Cascade Sub 1.0

Welcome to the Union Pacific Cascade Subdivision design and track plan page. Here you can view the plans for the railroad as well read about some of the considerations and features that factored into the final design and, indeed, construction. The designs and concept were put together by Robert Sprague of bobstrackplans.com. I am incredibly grateful for his willingness and insight in planning the railroad.

As an overview, the railroad fits in a 12'x16' room with the entryway conveniently in one corner of the room. The design itself is point to point with and upper and lower staging, Klamath Falls and Eugene, respectively. Each staging yard has five yard tracks with a reverse loop that serves as an additional staging track. The modeled portion of the railroad includes portions of Union Pacific's Brooklyn and Cascade Subdivisions from Westfir, OR to Cascade Summit. Departing Eugene (lower staging), trains grind up a near constant 2.5% grade across the railroads 3 decks and a 2-turn helix to Klamath Falls (upper staging).
